The name Petalite comes from the Greek word for "leaf".

Petalite is very rare but is found in many places all over the world. deposits have been found in Austrailia, Brazil, Italy, Namibia, Sweden, Zimbabwe, and the United States.

    COMMON GEM COLORS: Clear

    HARDNESS ON MOH'S SCALE: 6 to 6.5

SHAPES FOR CUTTING: Suitable for all faceted shapes but is generally used only in pendants as it is too brittle for use in rings. Quantum cuts are favored, as more facets optimize the stone's brilliance.
