Mystic Topaz

Information About Mystic Topaz:

Topaz is treated by vapor deposition; a strong electrical charge is used to deposit and fuse a special chemical formula bath to a stone. The thin film coating causes light interference which creates the rainbow color effect.

Though "Mystic Topaz" is the most commonly used term for these treated stones, there are several other names ascribed to it such as "Crimson" and "Salmon Sorbet" for the red varieties, "Cassiopeia", "Neptune Garden", "Twilight", "Emerald Envy" (green).

COLORS: BLUE, GREEN, RED are most common.

HARDNESS ON MOH'S SCALE: 8

SHAPES FOR CUTTING: Suitable for faceting to all shapes. Quantum cuts are becoming quite popular.
